Communication encloses the report of James [McParlan] (alias James McKenna), who has been assigned to infiltrate and report on the Molly Maguires. McParlan reports from Shenandoah City in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania , and the report includes the time period from 1875-01-23 to 1875-02-16. Among other details, McParlan reports on a speech delivered by Jno. F. Welsh, President of the Mechanics and Workingmen's Benevolent Association, and on allegations that the Reading Rail Road Company was mixing Shamokin coal with damaged coal and selling it.
