The approximate location of Brownsville School was west of Harrington and north of Rt. 14. in Kent County.
Construction began on June 7, 1922 and was completed on January 2, 1923, at a cost of $6,867.20. Later this school was consolidated with Hammondtown and Brownsville as populations shifted toward northern cities. In 1932, the school was closed because of declining enrollments. Brownsville and Hammondtown Schools were consolidated again with Harrington and became overcrowded. It was closed, moved to a location west of Harrington.
