This frame school, entitled the Buttonwood Day School, was begun by the Buttonwood Church. Construction of the new building began on December 1, 1925 and was completed on April 26, 1926 at a cost of $13,741.82. The Buttonwood School was annexed into the City of New Castle at a later date. In 2001, the school near New Castle was rehabilitated.
