The Kausses discuss general daily life growing up along the Brandywine, including schooling, childhood pastimes, transportation, daily chores, vacationing in Atlantic City, holiday and wedding traditions, typical food and dress, and various possessions in the homes. Mr. Kauss also discusses his working career for DuPont.

Mary Todd Kauss (b. 1900) grew up in Breck's Lane and worked at Copeland's; her father worked in the dye works at Bancroft and her mother's father, DeWeiss Craig, worked in the office at the DuPont Company. Joseph B. Kauss (b. 1898) started working at Hagley Yards as a stenographer when he was a young man.
