First Photo of Lieut. Wade's Crash into North Atlantic on Way to Iceland
Text on verso: 'This is first photo showing ill-fated plane of Lieut. Wade, one of the U.S. round-world fliers, who crashed into the sea between the Orkneys and Iceland. In this photo the plane is shown lying on the water with a destroyer approaching to take Lieuts. Wade and Ogden off. The plane was taken in tow by one of the destroyers to go to Iceland, but was subsequently destroyed by gunfire.'
