Control Center at a Reading Anthracite Colliery
The man at the levers of the Hoisting Engine stands enthroned over vital machinery. At a touch of his hand cars loaded with newly mined coal are raised and empty cars are lowered by steel cables which are wound and unwound by electric motors on the great drums shown in the background.
