"Robert J. Timby, (left) of 757 Wynnewood Road, Philadelphia, Pa., waves cap from cab of locomotive on "Broadway Limited" June 15, 1952, 50th Anniversary of trip he made as Fireman of the steam locomotive on original run of the "Pennsylvania Special" predecessor to the "Broadway Limited". With him in cab is New York Division Engineman William Wright prior to departure of train. Mr. Timby entered the Pennsylvania Railroad service in 1889, was promoted to Engineman in 1904 and retired in 1943 after 54 years of service."

Typed caption: "Lower yard rolling mills (wheel mills) exploded 10:15 pm Friday, July 5, 1889. These mills contained the largest rolls of any of the Brandywine Mills. They were reduced in size after this explosion as much damage was done to adjoining property and especially in the Highland section of Wilmington."

The method of jumping an electric car over a fire engine hose which may cross the track. A light metal bridge, large enough to span the hose is laid on the track, and the car passes over the obstruction without even the slightest difficulty. (halftone)

Photograph taken on the Richmond Union Passenger railway, and represents an experiment which was made to test the ability of the overhead system to conduct enough current to the extreme end of the line to operate all the cars at one time... the cars all moved promptly, and although on a slight up grade, attained their normal speed of twelve to fifteen miles per hour, without the slightest trouble or delay...
