Wilkes-Barre. 1912." on back of print: "This beautiful and nostalgic photograph was made in Wilkes-Barre near F.M. Kirby's home about 1912. It shows the four Matheson Silent Six models which the Matheson Co. hoped would pull it out of the slump then affecting the sale of expensive cars. However, less than a year after this picture was made, the directors voted to liquidate."

This original print was taken on Riverside Dr. by Spooner and Wells, famous automobile photographers of New York, for publicity use. Mr. Frank Matheson recalls that Allan Kirby owned one of thse roadsters, which was known by the irreverent in Wilkes-Barre as "The Box of Violets."
