Dallin Aerial Survey Company, Photograph Collection, 1924-1941

Logo from Dallin Company letterheadThis collection of aerial images includes photographs of factories, private estates, schools, country clubs, towns, airports, rivers, and many other sites and some news events of the day. The majority of the photographs concentrate on the Mid-Atlantic region although Dallin did make trips to other locales within the United States. The Dallin Aerial Survey Company was headquartered out of the nascent Philadelphia Airport.

Sun Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, Photograph Collection, 1917-1983

Princess Anne, Hull 152, Sun ShipbuildingThis collection is comprised primarily of images of completed ships, ships in construction or repair, and events surrounding ship launchings. The Sun Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company was incorporated in May 23, 1916 as a tanker-building subsidary of the Sun Oil Company. Soon after its founding it began building ships for other companies. The company launched its final ship in 1980.

Philadelphia and Reading Coal and Iron Company, Photograph Collection, circa 1930

Mechanical Coal Loader, HagleyID#: 80318_025This collection consists of photographs that detail the steps of mining and processing anthracite coal. The Philadelphia and Reading Coal and Iron Company was the country's largest producer of anthracite coal from 1871 through the 1920s. This collection primarily shows the company's operation in Locust Summit near Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania.

DuPont Company powdermenPierre Gentieu's images document the DuPont Company Powder Yards and the surrounding community along the banks of the Brandywine River in Wilmington Delaware. Pierre A. Gentieu was a long-time employee of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company.

Pusey & Jones Corp., Photograph Collection, 1865-1955

Aerial view of Pusey & Jones plant in Wilmington, DelawareThe Pusey and Jones Corporation specialized in ship and machine building. This collection of images primarily consists of those related to the shipbuilding division of the company but does include a few images of their machine operations. Pusey and Jones Company's main facility was located in Wilmington, Delaware on the Christina River.
