This film presents highlights in the history of the DuPont Company from its founding to 1950.
DuPont Womens Fashions: France
Setting is Chateau d where models wear fashions made from Qiana.
"The Inside Story of Tires" DuPont commercial
Film explains super strength tire made from nylon cords used in heavy duty trucks. Strength demonstration of nylon cord versus ordinary tire cord. Heat test using both samples also done. Animation of moisture issues included.
DuPont focus on safety commercial
Man enters frame wearing safety equipment. Spokesman discusses how DuPont's accident rate in 1916 was high, but due to safety training programs, safety devices and protective clothing, the rates were greatly improved. A DuPont technician operating a 160 horsepower automobile engine is shown, testing chemicals added to gasoline to improve its efficiency. Safety measures such as an automatic cut off and a double layer of safety glass to protect the worker are pointed out. Other safety equipment used in the laboratory and safety meetings held throughout the company are mentioned.
The DuPont Show of the Month : The Way Home
June Allyson hosts program including a play called 'The Way Home' starring Ronald Reagan. Reagan plays a teacher that must deal with bullies in his class. Dacron commercial precludes play. DuPont Carpet Nylon commercial at intermission. Lastly, a commercial for DuPont 420 Nylon.
DuPont commercial on shaped charges for civilian use
Spokesman discusses bazookas, used in World War II, and what gave them their power. He explains the term 'Shaped charge' and animation depicts different types. He then points out DuPont has been working with oil companies using shaped charges in oil drilling. The 'jet perforator' is shown in use in animation.
"The Deep freeze Suit" DuPont commercial
Film explains that warm winter clothing has been needed since World War II. Thermal wear, nicknamed 'The Deep Freeze Suit' was created by two civilians for the Armed Forces using DuPont materials. Spokesman shows a test of a man having taken a cold shower and then standing in a refrigerator in the wet clothes. He goes on to show civilian adaptations, regular winter wear for families sold in stores.
DuPont commercial featuring Nylon plant in Seaford, Delaware
Editor of town newspaper 'The Leader', Wright Robinson, discusses how Seaford was once a small farming community but DuPont's Nylon plant, built in 1939, employed about 1200 people and was instrumental in the town expansion.
DuPont Freon commercial
Spokesman introduces Freon and its many applications, such as refrigerators and aerosols. He gives a demonstration of freezing a flower with Freon and its inflammability. He then shows how aerosol cans work, such as insecticides and shaving cream.
"New Adventures in Film" DuPont commercial
High speed film demonstrations. Spokesman explains DuPont's 931 film in use with a Fastax camera creates ultra slow motion. He points out when film is used in regular camera it gives a better result in low light situations, like a night baseball game. Because it is processed quickly it is also useful for news and sports applications. Also shown is DuPont's new way to create silk screen stencils using photographic reproduction.
