Association Against the Prohibition Amendment postcards and stationery

About this collection

Founded in 1918 by William H. Stayton, the Association Against the Prohibition Amendment was an early advocacy group for prohibition repeal in the United States. It became a leading and nationally prominent organization for the cause in the mid-1920s after attracting a number of prominent Americans to it membership, including Pierre S. du Pont (1870-1954), Irénée du Pont (1876-1963), and John J. Raskob (1879-1950).
The Association Against the Prohibition Amendment postcards and stationery (Accession 2005.204) collection collection comprises postcards and folded cards (stationery) issued by the organization. Each item is headed with the saying "Prohibition-Probes," which is followed by an anti-prohibition slogan or quotation.
