The school was built in 1819 by the Quaker Friends and was known as the 'Eight Square Schoolhouse.' Desks were located around the walls, with benches for the younger children in the middle. A desk for the teacher and a large stove were in the center.

A Pavilion near the entrance to the Brandywine Zoo in Brandywine Park known as the 'Sugar Bowl' was built in 1902 to provide a bandstand stage for outdoor concerts. It was demolished in 1954.

Located on Old Kennett Road outside Wilmington, the mansion was built in 1933 for Amy du Pont, a noted horsewoman, and designed to be similar to George Washington's Virginia home, 'Mount Vernon.' The architect was Mrs. Mary Craig and the builder was George McCauley and Son. In 1949, the home was given to nephew, Eugene du Pont III; Dauneport is no longer owned by the du Pont family.

On March 5, 1920, the Brandywine River overflowed its banks as a blizzard struck Wilmington. Forty city blocks were flooded. Considerable damage and flooding resulted to an area known as "The Orchards" where boathouses, docks and boats were anchored on the Brandywine River near the Eleventh St. Bridge . It is believed an associate of Frank Zebley, C.H. Brice, kept a boat here. Brice pictured in photo.
