A ball grinding machine used for grinding pigments for inks. The pigment is placed in the jar with the stainless steel balls and the jar is then clamped in the machine and revolved for a number of hours to obtain a fine grinding. The ball grinding method is used particularly where a volatile solvent is used which would evaporate in other types of grinding machines. A Launderometer, a machine which tests the fastness of dyes in chemicals used in commercial laundries. Pieces of the dyed fabric are place din the jars with the chemicals and some stainless steel balls. The whole battery of jars is then revolved for the duration of the test.

Control room of DuPont's 25 million pound 'Hylene' organic isocyanates plant now on stream at the Chambers Works, Deepwater Point, New Jersey. The plant was constructed during 1955 and completed in January of 1956. It currently employs approximately 80 people. Organic isocyanates are versatile chemicals which, in combination with various other compounds, form rubber like or plastic like material s which potentially wide use in such fields as building, transportation, upholstery and insulation.

It is here and at a new plant in Antioch, California that DuPont's antiknock fluid, used in almost all the gasoline bought by motorists through the world, is manufactured. The company also produces tetraethyl lead compound for aviation gasoline. Tetraethyl lead is marketed by DuPont's Petroleum Chemicals Division.
