Larry Livingston of DuPont explains the process of laying vitreous enamel over iron to create such items as bathtubs, sinks and other household fixtures. Livingston further explains how DuPont's electrochemical department studied ways to use aluminum instead of iron in this process to make the products lighter and easier to ship. Chemists created vitreous enamel and Livingston performs a shock test with 2 pound steel ball. He goes on to highlight its use as signage and as a building material.
