On March 5, 1920, the Brandywine River overflowed its banks as a blizzard struck Wilmington. Forty city blocks were flooded. Considerable damage and flooding resulted to an area known as "The Orchards" where boathouses, docks and boats were anchored on the Brandywine River near the Eleventh St. Bridge . It is believed an associate of Frank Zebley, C.H. Brice, kept a boat here.

The building, originally the First Presbyterian Meetinghouse located at Tenth and Market Streets, Wilmington, was moved in 1916 to make way for the Wilmington Institute Free Library.
