It describes his activities as inspector of artillery and his involvement in the founding of the military academy at West Point. Tousard's visits to many of the United States' military coastal installations are well described. The letter book contains copies of Tousard's correspondence with many prominent military officers and government officials including: Colonel Timothy Pickering, Stephen Decatur, James McHenry, and Secretary of War Henry Knox.

3 Anne Louis Tousard journal, 1791-1792 1791-11-15, 1792-12-12 Tousard, Louis de, 1749-1817 (author) This journal was compiled from Tousard's papers and includes copies of orders, military correspondence, and proclamations documenting his service as a military officer during the Haitian Revolution. It was compiled by Tousard while he was a prisoner at L'Abbaye. He intended to submit this document to the Convention Nationale in order to justify his actions during the Revolution.
