Eleuthera Bradford du Pont Collection

About this collection

    Eleuthera Bradford du Pont (1873-1953) was the daughter of Edward Green Bradford (1848-1928) and his wife, Eleuthera Paulina du Pont (1848-1906), who was, in turn, the daughter of Alexis Irénée du Pont (1816-1857), the youngest child of E.I. du Pont (1771-1834). Eleuthera married Henry Belin du Pont (1873–1902) in 1897.
    This digital collection is a small selection of items from the Eleuthera Bradford du Pont Collection (Accession 0146), which documents important aspects of the early history of the E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company. The materials digitized to date include three company account books dating from 1802 to 1809 as well as corporate correspondence with a Philadelphia businessman, dating to 1805, and with an agent in Cuba, dating from 1821 to 1825. There is also an 1806 letter of introduction for the company written by Aaron Burr.
