Appleton provides a report of his militia company's strength and equipment. Appleton's company, the 'Union Guards,' was located in Summit Bridge, Delaware. Du Pont, as Major-General in command of the Delaware Militia, asked the commanders of the state's militia companies to make a detailed report on the status of their companies in his General Orders No. 1.
