About this collection

    The Associated Factory Mutual Fire Insurance Companies comprised twenty-eight mutual insurance firms that specialized in industrial fire insurance. The association maintained a central testing laboratory for testing and accrediting fire control apparatus and electrical equipment, engineering and appraisal departments, and a Plan Division to produce and distribute fire insurance maps and plans of insured properties.
    The Associated Factory Mutual Fire Insurance Companies maps and plans (Accession 2087) collection consists of seventy plans and maps, mostly depicting textile mills, paper products factories, and foundries in New England and New York.
