Special Order Number 48, Fort Delaware, 1863-06-29
Special order issued by Brigadier General Albin Schoepf, commander of Fort Delaware, directing Captain Lammot du Pont and Captain Hugh Stirling to detach men from their companies (Companies B and D, 5th Delaware Volunteer Infantry) to work in the DuPont powder yards. Many of the men in these companies were DuPont employees.
