Inter-Society Color Council collections

About this collection

The Inter-Society Color Council (ISCC) was founded on February 26, 1931 for the purpose of coordinating the activities of leading technical societies relating to the description, specification, and standardization of color and promoting the practical application of this knowledge in science, art, and industry.
National associations and technical societies participating in the ISCC represent a wide array of individuals and organizations across a variety of industries and trade associations. Members of the ISCC can be found in the fields of art; science and technology; manufacturers; producers of color reproduction processes; creators of color effects in graphic design; and related fields.
The Inter-Society Color Council records (Accession 2188) and Inter-Society Color Council photographs (Accession 2003.228) collections offer material generated by the ISCC as well as by notable individuals and organizations associated with the society. These collections have not been digitized in their entirety, but efforts have been made to sample widely across the collections, with the exception of artifacts, moving images, and audio.
