Text on verso: 'Cutting one third from present flying time between New York and the Pacific Coast, 20-hour coast to coast flying time was instituted June 11th by the United Air Lines. The new schedule also reduces the flying time between Chicago and New York from 6 1/2 hours to 4 3/4 hours, and westbound travel between the two cities from 7 3/4 hours to 5 1/2 hours. General View of Main Waiting Room looking west. This outstanding feature of the new station's interior is 175 feet long, 58 feet wide and 46 feet high. Floor is of red terrazzo, with inlaid patterns in black and yellow, outlined by embedded brass strips. There is a high wainscot of real rose yellow Travertine from Montana, here used for first time in the East. On walls are decorative placques, modelled in relief, representing the different forms of American transportation. The ceiling is blue, encircled by decorative lines of gold leaf. Benches are of grey walnut, inlaid with aluminum. Room is illuminated by four large hanging globes of white bronze and flashed opal glass encircled with pierced bands displaying the signs of the Zodiac. At westerly end is a large window filled with sheets of variegated translucent Alabama marble, through which afternoon sun shines with unusual striking effect.
