Handbill promoting candidate William Cannon of the Union Party for Governor of Delaware. Cannon won the election and served from 20 January 1863 until 1 March 1865, when he died in office. Many Delaware politicians disliked Cannon because of his switch from the Democratic to the Union Party and actively worked against him throughout his term in office.

Sheet music commemorating the U.S. Navy's successful attacks on Forts Walker and Beauregard at Port Royal, South Carolina, 7 November 1861. This attack was carried out by the South Atlantic Blockading Squadron under the command of Commodore Samuel Francis Du Pont. The Battle of Port Royal was one of the first major victories for U.S. military forces during the Civil War.

Drayton reports that the Passaic and Marblehead went up the Wilmington River to within the sight of Wassaw or Thunderbolt. The Passaic was stopped by shallow water, and Drayton reports on the extensive Confederated batteries in the area. He did not find the Fingal.
