He begins by discussing his childhood in Norwalk, Ohio, his family, neighbors, school, and his first months at Cinecraft. The reminder focuses on his time as an Army Air Force aircraft mechanic and B-17 flight crew chief/engineer during the war. He recounts his basic training, maintenance and flight schools, and voyage to an American base in Italy. He also details his two failed missions to Germany where his planes were shot down. During the second mission, he fractured his leg on impact and was captured by German soldiers. He spent the remainder of the war in Stalag Luft III, a German POW camp. He was eventually freed by the American army and returned to Ohio. The document also includes a variety of images, such as photographs of Culley, his family, and his war medals, as well as scans of telegrams, letters, and newspaper articles.
