Mass pigmentation of textile fibers at DuPont's New Pigments Sales Service Laboratory. Here single end spinning machine is used for making viscose rayon pigmented with a new fade resistant 'Monastral' red. In this technique, color is put into the yarn instead of applied to the surface. Announcement of the new light fast 'Monastral' red pigments, a result of DuPont's fundamental research program was made in connection with a formal opening of the $5 million laboratory May 21.

Bobbins of twisted yarn are checked on creel preparatory to winding on beam for weaving. Each individual strand, called an end, must be wound with meticulous care to insure steady feed in high speed weaving operation. Machine at DuPont's $5,000,000 Textile Research Laboratory at Chestnut Run near Wilmington, Delaware is part of production facilities supplementing research in seventeen physical and chemical laboratory units to diversify and improve uses of company's man-made textile fibers.

The inspector is one of a large group that makes sure every package is in proper condition for the manufacturer when it leaves the DuPont plants at Seaford, Delaware; Martinsville, Virginia and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Nylon for tire cord and industrial product is made by Du Pont in Richmond, Virginia.
