Text on verso: 'Another 'flying general' - Brig. Gen. R. F. Mittelstaedt, adjutant general of California, who is seen in this picture in his flying suit just prior to make a flight. 'Flying generals' have been few and far between and when they army air service succeeds in adding a new one to the list, it credits itself with a marked achievement. Gen. Mittelstaedt has become an aviation enthusiast of the first degree. The picture was taken at Clover Field, CA.'

Text on verso: 'Bringing to an end the 18,500 mile flight from San Antonio, the Good Will Flyers landed at Bolling Field, Washington, to be received by the President of the United States and the representatives of the Latin American Countries. As the guns boomed forth the executive salute the planes landed in order and a reception followed that will not long be forgotten. The President is shown saluting and the twenty-one guns followed by the Star Spangled Banner.'
