Kaiser provides information about his upbringing. He talks about his father's career path, how his parents met and their relationship. He recalls his time living in California for a summer, visits to Pioneer Point to see his Uncle John and Aunt Helena Raskob and sailing in the river near their home. He mentions some political differences his uncle had with people like President Roosevelt and Joseph Kennedy. Kaiser speaks of his mother's relationship with her brother and her growing up in Lockport, New York. He speaks a little about the families wealth, summering in Ventnor, New Jersey near Atlantic City, sailing and starting to build boats. He recalls meeting Jack Corcoran, and describes some visits with various family members. He shares memories of his Uncle John Raskob visiting his home. He mentions that John Raskob was friends with people in showbusiness, discusses his investment in the Playhouse, and the Green Room. He recalls his uncle supporting his interest in going to law school. He shares what he knows about Bill and Yvonne's death. He concludes with speaking a bit about his schooling and education.

Herbert Harwood Jr. Railroad and Transportation Collection of photographic negatives comprises nearly 150,000 images covering all of the twentieth century. The collection includes Harwood’s own work as a railroad photographer as well as the work of others. Among the collection are photographs from many notable photographers active in the 1930s and ‘40s and well as the work of his father-in-law, George M. Beischer, who served as the chief mechanical officer for several railroads, including the fledgling Amtrak in the 1970s.

    The Victor Talking Machine Company was a Camden, New Jersey company founded in 1901 by Eldridge Reeves Johnson (1867-1945), a former machinist for the Berliner Gramophone Company. It quickly became a leading U.S. manufacturer of phonographs and phonograph records by many of the leading musical artists of the day.
    In 1926, Johnson sold controlling interests in the company to a banking firm, who, in 1929, sold the company to the Radio Corporation of America. Successive name and management...

    The Victor Talking Machine Company was a Camden, New Jersey company founded in 1901 by Eldridge Reeves Johnson (1867-1945), a former machinist for the Berliner Gramophone Company. It quickly became a leading U.S. manufacturer of phonographs and phonograph records by many of the leading musical artists of the day.
    In 1926, Johnson sold controlling interests in the company to a banking firm, who, in 1929, sold the company to the Radio Corporation of America. Successive name and management changes would include the Radio-Victor Division of the Radio Corporation of America, the RCA Manufacturing Company, the RCA Victor Division and, in 1968, RCA Records.
    The records in this collection come from the Camden administration building. There are ten volumes of corporation committee minutes dating from 1912 to 1931, which cover a wide range of corporate activities. Additional volumes consist of reports from the President to the Board of Directors and production contracts from 1945-1946. To view the finding aid for this collection, click here

The company was a leading shipbuilder and refit facilities during the early 20th century. Among the artists whose illustrations appeared on the cover included Edward Hopper. The digitized collection of the Morse Dry Dock Dial owned by the Hagley Library covers a period from 1919 to 1923.

The Transportation Act of 1920 required railroads to file with the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) for permission to eliminate tracks from their system. This collection consists of index cards to finance dockets involving the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central Transportation Company, and Conrail. The cards document line abandonments and financial transactions from the 1920s through 1985.

    The cards include, on the top line, a docket number, the date filed, and section of the law under which it was filed. The next line indicates the name of the railroad. The short text is an abstract of the case. For an abandonment, the county and state in which the tracks are located are usually indicated, as well as the length of track to be abandoned and the end points of the abandonment as indicated by a town name or mile posts. Some of the cards include a handwritten notation indicating where the case can be found in the printed ICC Reports. For a detailed description of the collection, click here to view the finding aid.
