Written on verso: 'This 1902 Sears-Roebuck Motor Buggy, originally purchased by Marcellus Diehl of York, Pa., has been owned and operated by his nephew, J. J. Ruth, 561 Smith St., York, Pa., for 30 years. The motor has only been reconditioned once, it has worn out at least 6 sets of tires and been driven approximately 100,000 miles. Show moreWritten on verso: 'This 1902 Sears-Roebuck Motor Buggy, originally purchased by Marcellus Diehl of York, Pa., has been owned and operated by his nephew, J. J. Ruth, 561 Smith St., York, Pa., for 30 years. The motor has only been reconditioned once, it has worn out at least 6 sets of tires and been driven approximately 100,000 miles. The motor, located under the floor boards, has 2 cylinders with 4 1/8' diameter pistons. It has 2 suction intake and 2 exhaust valves. The gasoline in the cylinders is fired by 2 high-tension coils run by 6 dry cells. The power from the motor is transmitted through 2 chain drives to the 2 36' wheels covered with solid rubber tires. A friction clutch connects the motor with the drive wheels. The steering post is on the left side with a straight pipe for steering. The gas tank holds 5 gallons and at maximum speed of 30 miles per hour it is possible to get 15 miles per gallon of gas. [signed] Josephine Ruth'
