Chicago-A pro integration picket is punched by a woman with opposing views outside Mount Greenwood elementary school Jan 31st. The woman belonged to a group protesting the admission of seven Negro children to the all white school. The opposing factions marched outside the school until they clashed briefly. Police arrested two men (including the one getting punched here), charging them with disorderly conduct.

New York: Students cross SDS picket line outside Hamilton Hall on the Columbia University campus here March 25th after members of the Students For a Democratic Society (SDS) called a one day strike. The SDS is demanding an end to ROTC training on the campus; cancellation of military recruitment and research; and the opening of empty university owned apartments to neighborhood residents.

Las Vegas NV- The fireball from the largest atomic device ever exploded in the U.S. rises over the atomic test site here early July 5th. The site is viewed from a mountain 14 miles away. The blast set fire to the surrounding desert and was seen in Los Angeles.
