A navy F2H-2P Banshee photo plane equipped with a forward firing aerial mapping and reconnaissance camera installed on its nose, lands aboard the aircraft carrier USS Essex (CVA-9). It banks in its approach, levels off, gets a cut from the landing signal officers, touches down and comes to a perfect arrested landing. This series of eight photos were taken with a type L-46 aerial camera with a 24 inch lens, a red A-25 filter, 1/200 second exposure, an exposure interval of 2 seconds, film size...

This series of eight photos were taken with a type L-46 aerial camera with a 24 inch lens, a red A-25 filter, 1/200 second exposure, an exposure interval of 2 seconds, film size 9x18 inches. This speed of the aircraft during approach is approximately 110 knots.
