Elmont, Long Island-Rose Moline is pictured in the act of saving a penny by purchasing a package of cigarettes just over the New York City boundary line. Hundreds of New York City storekeepers took advantage of the new city tax on cigarettes which went into effect yesterday (May 1st) by setting up similar stands on the city's borders. They reported a booming business. Jean Sorrano , 10 yrs, whose father is a storekeeper, is making the sale.

Work in the Main Power House of the Ford Motor Company Rouge Plant in Dearborn, MI apparently is conducive to a ripe old age. Here are the more elderly of the staff of the power house, lined up in front of the latest of the three huge 110,000 Kilowatt turbo-generators which supply electric power to the 1200 acre plant. The chromium planted scoop and wheelbarrow are souvenirs of the old days when coal was shoveled instead of being pulverized and blown into the boilers as it is now. The men, reading from left to right are: Wolott Facherell, 71; John Whitty, 69; Jack Hamilton, 73; Bert Maddock, 70; Charles Litegot, 86; Tony Polk, 78; George Floyd, 75; William Perry, 86; Peter Short, 70; John McCabe, 76; H. Keen, 72; Fred Merton, 72; Venicet Consiglo, 74; Henry Menager, 68; George Siegal, 78; Frank Daniels, 70; Hugh Hamilton, 72; Robert Swirles, 70; and Louis Penegeot, 76. Menager, the youngest member of the group, is a chemist. Perry is a cleaner, Litegot an elevator operator.

Glass block in bands surrounding the monitors and in shafts above the canopies of stainless steel at each entrance to the new Standard Register Company press shop in Dayton, OH have become the new architectural symbol of a business built on holes. Designed and built by the Austin Company to accommodate new presses which turn out the companys continuous fee business form in efficient straight line product, the new plant is already face to face with full 24 hour operation.
