Written on verso: '[see 1927 Patents]' The Camden Iron Works was fist established in 1845 by John F. Starr, Sr., who built the plant on the north side of Bridge Avenue above Third Street. His brother, Jesse W. Starr, joined the company in 1847, and the plant was enlarged. It manufactured steam pipes and gas works machinery. The Starrs retired by 1870, and, after going out of blast around the year 1880, the plant was purchased by the stock company R. D. Wood & Co. in 1883.
