A boat from the Surveying Schooner Casewell boarded the Glide and her commanding officer considers it captured, although Drayton defers the matter to du Pont and Congress. Drayton reports that Mr. Dennis, captain of the Coast Survey Schooner Casewell, refuses to recognize Drayton's authority and is viewing the port blockade as a joint effort. Drayton asks du Pont to use his authority to have Dennis withdraw from those places where his interference might be an inconvenience to the Union naval operations.

Du Pont orders Drayton to send the Hale and the Henry Andrew, as they are needed on account of their light draught for operations in Georgetown, South Carolina. Du Pont will send the Norwich to replace one of them. Du Pont has received information of an organized intention to force the blockade and tells Drayton to let the Army generals at Stono know this if they object to his withdrawing the vessels.
