Published transcript of the speech Henry Algernon du Pont delivered at the unveiling of the monument to Major General Stephen Dodson Ramseur on the Cedar Creek Battlefield in Virginia. Du Pont gave the address on 16 September, 1920. Ramseur, a prominent Confederate general from North Carolina, was mortally wounded during the Battle of Cedar Creek. Ramseur and du Pont attended the United States Military Academy at West Point at the same time and became close friends.
The fictional Martin family decide to remodel and modernize their aging home. They choose red cedar wood as the primary siding material for the project.
