The past 50 years have seen the company broaden its base to become the nations largest product of industrial chemicals. The company began coating fabrics soon after the turn of the century. By the end of WWI, it was in the paint, plastics and dyes business. Rayon, Ducco. Enamels and cellophane followed soon. Its greatest growth was in the period beginning with 1928. Since then it has introduced or developed many new products including nylon, neoprene synthetic rubber, and a acetate rayon. These products today account for more than half the company's yearly sales. Ranging from film to ammonia, DuPont today makes some 1200 product lines, all directly affect the country's living pattern.
