He started as a film technician and SOHIO Librarian. He later moved to the sound department, where he worked on films including Freewheelin’ in 1976. That same year, he worked alongside with Bob Schneider to work the 1st video system for Cinecraft. Prior to leaving Cinecraft, he did corporate presentations alongside Neil McCormick. In 1986, he moved to Crawford Communication in Atlanta in 1986, where he worked a video tech.

In the interview, Wolaver discusses his career at Cinecraft and the development and evolution of video systems in the mid-1970s through the 1990s in the context of his work at Cinecraft and Crawford Communication.

He discusses his hiring at Cinecraft and his start at the company in the film library where he fulfilled requests for prints. He discusses his work on Freewheelin’, one of the first films he worked on as a sound recordist. When Cinecraft acquired their first video system, he worked on the first video projects for the company. In the interview, he talks about the difficulties in producing content on the new system and, more generally, the issues and considerations in using and adopting video in the early years of the technology. Cinecraft began producing multi-image slide productions for corporate events throughout the U.S. for major tire companies and others. Wolaver discusses the mechanics of script and production development with clients and executing the live show during the event. He discusses the culture and Cinecraft and how different generations worked together as the technology shifted from film to video. Wolaver summarizes his later career at Cinecraft and his decision to accept a job offer as a video technician at Crawford Communications, a large production company in Atlanta.

He concludes the interview telling the story of TV personality producing a video with Cinecraft and a recent visit to the Cinecraft studio.
