Martha C. Peterson's husband, Dorsey Edward Peterson, Sr., was a driver for the Marshall Brothers paper mill, while Martha worked in the Auburn Heights home. The family lived in tenant housing owned by the Marshall Brothers paper mill on Auburn Mill Road around the time this photograph was taken. They had four children; Dorsey Edward, Jr. (1907-1986), Eliza Jane (1906-2005), Samuel Bernard (1909-2004), and Bettye Elaine (1921-2005).
